Newsletter
Our fortnightly Newsletter ensures our families are informed about everything that is happening in our school community. The Newsletter shares important information, celebrates achievements and shares updates on events around the school. Included is the Principals report, a calendar of important dates, information on upcoming events and highlights of current events, Wellbeing information and community notices.
School Council
Roles & Responsibilities
School councils play a key role in Victorian government schools. Participating as a school council member is a rewarding and challenging experience. The school council supports the principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students.
School councils have three main responsibilities:
- Finance – overseeing the development of the school’s annual budget and ensuring proper records are kept of the school’s financial operation.
- Strategic Planning – participating in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan.
- Policy Development and Review – developing, reviewing and updating policies that reflect a school’s values and support the school’s broad direction outlined in its strategic plan.
Other key functions of school councils include:
- raising funds for school-related purposes
- maintaining school grounds and facilities
- entering into contracts
- reporting annually to the school community and the Department of Education and Training
- representing and taking the views of the community into account
- regulating and facilitating after-hours use of school premises and grounds
- operating a children’s service at the school. –OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) program
The election for the Macclesfield PS school council will be held in February / March each year. If you would like to nominate for one of the 4 parent vacancies, please contact the school office for a nomination form.
Playgroup
One of our lovely parents runs a playgroup in the school library every Wednesday, from 9.30am-11.00am. We ask for a gold coin donation for playgroup to cover the cost of tea and coffee. The playgroup is a great way to learn more about our school, and to see the school in action during the morning. The families are friendly and welcoming. Lunch Days
Our wonderful Canteen/Fundraising Committee offer numerous Lunch Days throughout the year. From Design Your Sandwich, Pasta, Pizza, Soup & Toastie – these Lunch Days are very popular amongst the students and staff.
OSHC
At Macclesfield Primary School, we provide a high-quality Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program, offering a safe, engaging, and fun environment for students outside of regular school hours.
Before School Care Hours
7am – 8:45am
After School Care Hours
3:30pm-6:15pm

School Uniform
Uniforms are available online through EduThreads.
The school has a limited amount of second hand uniforms for sale by donation. Please see the office if you wish to view these.
